Unlike other paintings that depict Jesus
on the cross this one depicts the sinner looking at the cross of Jesus with the blood streaming down. Unique in
that you do not see the whole cross of Jesus but rather the bloody foot of the cross, a place where we as sinners go for forgiveness.
